The differential bearing cover ensures that the differential is reliably held in the gearbox housing under preload and absorbs the lateral forces of the crown gear confidently even under high loads. Volkswagen recognized the weak points of these components early on and consistently improved the design during development – with better materials and reinforced wall thicknesses for significantly more load-bearing capacity, even with engines with a maximum of 54hp

Thanks to the solid material design, spreading of the housing is effectively prevented and thus the risk of damage to the bevel and crown gear is significantly reduced. The 360° radial reinforcement design also increases the rigidity of the entire gearbox housing – for all-round stable power absorption. That's why these differential covers are not only intended for the classic pressure side of the bevel gear but can also be installed on both sides.
