The dw-motion Differential Side Cover securely holds the differential under preload within the transmission housing and reliably absorbs the lateral forces generated by the ring gear, even under high loads.
The CAD-engineered design specifically increases transmission case rigidity and effectively prevents the housing from spreading under load. At the same time, strategically placed weight-reduction pockets keep weight to an absolute minimum. This reduces unwanted case movement and significantly lowers the risk of damage to the ring and pinion gears. The Differential Side Covers are not limited to the conventional drive side of the pinion gear. They can be installed on both sides, further increasing the overall rigidity and strength of the transmission housing.
Optimized oil supply for performance and limited-slip differentials
When using performance differentials with four spider gears or limited-slip differentials such as ATB or LSD units, insufficient oil supply to the bearings can occur, particularly during extended highway driving. Dedicated oil circulation passages and channels are therefore required to ensure reliable lubrication. dw-motion Differential Side Covers for swing-axle transmissions already incorporate all the necessary modifications for optimized oil circulation. No time-consuming machining or additional modifications are required – the covers come ready to install.
